The Y2K bug was not hot air after all (the timing was wrong)

Do you remember the hyped in th 90s horrible Y2K bug that would wreck our computers during the millennium change? Most people now agree that the problem was then overstated and the only ones who profited from the Y2K scare were those who were hired to prepare computer systems for the bug. Yet it seems that the T2K was not completely hot air but the timing was wrong: for some reason the Y2K bag manifested itself in the beginning of 2010, 10 years later than the prediction. According to the Register a spin-off of the bug has hit 30 million German debit and credid cards holders. Interesting to see if more such incidents will surface.
